Unpredictable climatic changes are resulting in more dependence on tumble dryers to manage the different types, materials and colours of wet clothes. A few energy saving tips helps reduce the power rates immensely. The most important task is to ensure that the dryer continues to work to its full potential. The lint filter should be cleaned regularly for safety reason; else the dryer gets over-heated and results in fire and accidents.
To clean the lint filter the door of the dryer should be opened and the lint filter brushed thoroughly removing the entire trapped particles. It should also be washed in warm soapy water after about 3 or 4 times of using the dryer for a decent length cycle. The manuals or instruction booklet can be checked in detail to understand the features and methods to clean it with the current model.
The space around the lint should be vacuumed in about 6 months to remove the fluff particles trapped below the lint. If vented dryer is being used, then the pipes should be checked for any tears or damages. If a vent is installed then it should be ensured that there are no obstructions outside the wall that prevents steam from escaping. When emptying the dryer’s container of the vented tumble dryer, the water can be used to feed the plants, leading to a better saving in the electricity bill!
