PROBLEM OF FOUL ODOURS IN TUMBLE DRYERS

foul smell PROBLEM OF FOUL ODOURS IN TUMBLE DRYERSThere are innumerable gadgets and machines for home makers to rely upon today. Fast changing social scenario forces people to depend on machines for the sake of convenience and not necessarily as a matter of luxury. A small deficiency or disruption in the working of a gadget makes the consumer upset as it will result in the daily chores remaining incomplete. Several consumer complaints about household appliances reflect the anxiety and tension that affects them.

Take the case of tumble dryer. It may be working satisfactorily and the user will be able to accomplish what is expected from the machine. But then, foul odour emanating from the appliance becomes an irritant for the users. The immediate reaction will be to complain against the product or services as the case may be.

In the case of foul odours emanating from the machine, the reason in most cases will be the improper handling or maintenance at the users’ end. Of course there are few causes for the problem which can be attributed to defects in the gadgets. Experts and experienced users have expressed their views and suggestions in this context.

1.Accumulation of sludge or fluff generated from the clothes will settle at the bottom of the tumble dryer. Such things will be collected in the lint filter also. Unless they are removed and filter cleaned foul odour may emanate from the system.

2.Condensation from vent hose can cause bad odours. In the case of vent type dryer the hose pipe should be fixed or laid properly so that the exhaust moisture will pass through it without blowing back in the reverse direction. In condenser type dryers moisture or water contents should be pumped out without allowing it to collect inside the hose or in the container provided for the same. Such effluents will contaminate and will be the cause of foul odours.tumble dryers PROBLEM OF FOUL ODOURS IN TUMBLE DRYERS

3.Hose pipes which are intended to exhaust moist air should be laid properly. If not, the water from the drains may flow back into the hose and cause stagnation and bad odours.

4.If washing and rinsing of clothes are not done properly and effectively to remove body perspiration odours, such clothes when loaded in the tumble dryers may cause foul odours. Similarly clothes should not be allowed to be in the washing machine too long before loading in the dryer. As soon as the washing and rinsing process are over, the clothes should be removed from the machine as soon as possible.

5.Never overload the tumble dryers. There should be enough space for hot air to circulate in between the clothes. Parts of the clothes loaded which fail to receive hot air or steam may be a cause for bad smell in the system.

6.As a remedy a clean towel dipped in white vinegar may be allowed to tumble in the drum for some time. Then remove it and wash the interiors with water. Treating the interior of the machine with baking soda paste can also offer relief from bad odours.

Foul smell emanating from the tumble dryer is not a manufacturing defect, even though a slipping belt or heated motor can develop burnt smell. The interiors of the machine should be kept clean. It is important that the tumble dryer is maintained well for obtaining best results.
